In this episode , Kevin discusses the hidden costs of worry from a Christian perspective. Through personal anecdotes and biblical references, he encourages listeners to trust in God and recognize the detrimental effects of worry on their lives.
Kevin (00:01.432)
Have you ever been in position where you had to buy something or you purchased something or you're about to purchase something and you went there and you had a price in mind and then when you went to pay and they told you the price was actually more than what you were anticipating. So you realize, wait a minute, but you told me or the advertised price was this, but then the sales person or the clerk said, well, I'm sorry, sir or ma'am, but there were additional fees that were also added to the cost of the item. So all of us at some point,
have been duped into paying additional fees or paying more than we should for an item or more than we anticipated paying. It's so much so that this goes out to where sometimes when you buy something, you see an advertising for it, one of the tricks of these companies is they'll let you know right up front, no hidden fees. And that's good news because all of us want, know, with the economy being the way it is and money being as tight as it is, no one is anticipating paying more than what they bargained.
And I give that example because there are two things in my experience that not just from a consumer perspective, but from a Christian view, that Christians end up paying more than what we think. The first one is obviously sin. The enemy is very good at being covert in telling us or not telling us what the full price is of sin. That when we do certain things that we think is going to be for our good, the enemy doesn't tell us about those
hidden fees that come when we sin and transgress against God. But the other thing I think that happens with us also is, of course, the crux of this episode is worrying. We think when we worry, of course, worrying is not a good thing. And the Bible's replete with admonitions telling us that we shouldn't worry. And we know as Christians, we should trust in the Lord, especially if you've been a Christian for an extended amount of time. You know that God is good. You know that God can come through, and God has come through.
But all that being said, you and I still have those moments when we're in that precipice between the promise and the fulfillment or waiting for God to do what he says he's gonna do, waiting for the healing, waiting for the blessing. Sometimes we worry, or if it's not we're waiting for a blessing, we may be in the midst of a trial. Something has happened and we're waiting, hoping God can move on our behalf, but we're worrying about if...
Kevin (02:28.272)
God can and will come through. So worrying is something that unfortunately, even though we shouldn't do it, all of us as Christians, present company included, we all are guilty of worrying. But I think sometimes as I alluded to, we don't see the full cost of what comes with worrying. That is again, it's another one of those hidden fees that we end up paying that we don't realize when we worry. It's not just about
disobeying God because yes, worry is a form of disobedience, but it's also something that costs us. So the operative question is how or what is the real cost of worry? Well, I have three things I hope we can consider that are cost of worrying. And hopefully as you hear this episode, you'll realize some of these three, one of these, if not all three, hopefully you don't do all three. Maybe you have at some point, but you realize what these are and hopefully you can learn.
to trust God and not have to pay that hidden fee that comes with worry. So the first hidden cause that comes with worrying is worrying stunts our growth. So when we worry, let's just define what the word worry means. Worry means anxiety or fear of trusting God. We believe that in most cases when something happens, we automatically jump to the worst
possible case scenario. If I'm sick, we automatically believe we're going to die. If it's a car accident, we automatically believe the car is total. We can't be able to pay for the car. If we lose our job, we get downsized, we automatically go to the worst case scenario that I'm going to be homeless and I won't be able to pay my bills and I'm going to be indigent. So worrying takes us from trusting God to now having fear that God won't come through. But this is the key.
It stunts our growth because we have to remember that God is never surprised by anything that happens to us. Not only is he not surprised that it happens, he allows it. Yes, that internet relationship, he allowed it. That car accident, he allowed it. That job loss, he allowed it. That sickness, he allowed it. So now why would he allow it? Because we should know at this point in our Christian walk that our growth only comes
Kevin (04:52.326)
through trials. So what happens when we don't trust God? We don't pass the test of trusting God. So now our growth has not become stunted. Our growth is not stagnant because now we're holding on to what we think is going to happen versus what God says is going to happen. Now, partially this happens because when we worry, we don't go to God because typically you don't worry
while you're praying. Now sometimes you worry and then it makes you pray. But when you're going through, when you're in the midst of it, sometimes the last thing you're doing is praying, which is probably why you're worried because you haven't prayed about it. But it stunts our growth because when we don't go to God, God does not reassure us and he doesn't give us a strength to say, you can still trust me. So when we worry,
Our growth is stunted because now we're so fixated on the worst case scenario versus how God can and will come through on our behalf. And trust me guys, who've been watching my podcast for extended amount of time now, this is something I am living presently. I'm in the precipice again of waiting of the manifestation of God to do these things. And by my own admission, I have been warned.
I have been fretting. I have been warning God, when are you going to do it? If you're going to do it, can you do it? Maybe I've done something so you won't do it. So all of these things are things that I'm actually living and experiencing right now. But my admin express is to realize that we have to stop worrying so we can start growing. So we have to put down that idea or that notion that God can come through and remember all the times he has come through. So let me give you a scripture.
And this is one that's very interesting. You've heard this scripture, I'm sure, if you've been a Christian for a while. It's one of the ones that you see all the time. It's one of those admonitions to keep going, keep going, to keep trusting. But it said, when I read the scripture, it jumped out at me and I saw something really wonderful in the way it was worded. So the scripture is Jeremiah 17 verses seven and eight. And it says,
Kevin (07:14.682)
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord whose confidence is in him. There will be like a tree planted by the water since us is roused by the stream. Is this not fear when he comes?
Kevin (08:00.646)
Jeremiah 17 verses 7 and 8. And it says, blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. There will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes. Its leaves are always green and has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. So what stood out to that scripture, again, you probably heard of one that before, again, it's like a tree trended by the rivers of water.
But what jumped out to me was the parlor that says that because that person that treat us trust in the Lord, it says that they would not worry in a year of drought. So look at what that's saying. And it says it never fails to bear fruit. So it's saying because this person did not worry, they trusted the Lord. Look at what it says. It didn't say that because they trust the Lord that the drought didn't come.
It says the drought still came. But it said because they trusted in the Lord, that in a year drought, they still bore fruit. Think about that. So that's my point. That when we trust God and we do not worry, we can still be productive even in a drought. We can still be productive even in a famine. We can still be productive even when our funds are low. Now, how can we do that?
Because our production is not up to us. Our production is up to God. But in order for Him to produce through us, we have to stay connected to Him by the rivers of water, by His presence. So when we worry, how can we continue to grow? By not worrying, by getting into His presence. By not worrying, by getting to His word. By not worrying, by associating and familiarizing ourselves with His word and with other people. Commiserating, having that brother or sister, that confidant to help you go on.
And you have to be honest too. In order for your girl not to be stagnant, you have to be honest about the fact that you're worried. You have to have that person, that brother, that sister, that mentor, or someone that you can say, hey brother, sister, I know I shouldn't be worrying. I know I should trust God, but right now I'm concerned. Right now, my anxiety is at a high and my faith is at a low and I need to...
Kevin (10:25.774)
switched out those levels. So now you go to that person to help you remember that you're planted by the rivers of water. That God himself planted you there. And he says, I'm planting you there that even when the drought comes, even when the famine comes, you will never fail to bear fruit because you put your trust in him and you did not worry. So we can continue to bear fruit. We can continue to grow.
and develop and we will not be stagnant. We will not fall short of God's glory when we stay tied to Him. The scripture that says it easy, really good. I believe in Gospel John, Jesus says, I'm the vine, you're the branches. If you're tied into me, you will bear much fruit. So we do not grow. We do not mature when we worry because what happens is we're no longer planted by that seed. We uproot ourselves.
from that seed and we plant ourselves in the desert of worry. And now we're away from those nourishing waters that God wants to give us. Because what happens is the reason why our growth is stunted because we uproot ourselves from where God wants to water us. Where he can plant us, where he can sustain us. So because we're not sustained by his presence, that's when we worry and our growth is stagnant. And isn't it ultimately
what we all want to do. Don't we all want to flourish and grow and to bear fruit for the kingdom? But we can't bear fruit if we're busy worrying, if we're thinking that somehow God is not going to come through. So worrying keeps us from growing because we don't focus on the person who's growing us. We focus on the drought. We focus on the search for circumstance and not focus on him. So that's the first thing that we have to worry about.
and why there's such a cost. We're worrying because our growth, we don't grow. We stay immature. And one of the things that I've noticed too, and a lot of Christians, those who have been Christians for quite a while, could it be that that's part of the reason why they're not growing? Why they're not maturing? Because when the drought comes, they leave God's presence. So could it be that's the reason? Why?
Kevin (12:51.782)
their growth is stunted. That could be the reason why they're not developing. That could be the reason why they're not maturing because you can grow in Christ outside of his presence. Think about it. As a Christian, the phrase we talk about, right? That person is growing in Christ. When we worry, we're not in Christ, we're in crisis. And that's the reason why we don't
That's the reason why we don't develop. And conversely, when you will not trust God and when he comes through, when we go through that drought and we still bear fruit, two things happen. One, God ultimately gets the glory because we bear fruit for him. then secondly, think about it. In order for a tree to bear fruit, the tree has to grow. A tree has to sprout leaves and blossoms. So if a tree is going to bear fruit,
it inherently has to grow. So in order for us to bear fruit for the kingdom, we can't be worried. And the reason why sometimes we don't bear fruit is because we're worried, because we don't give it to God and we stray from his presence. So that's the first thing that worry does. Worry can stunt or stagnate our growth. The second major cost for worrying is that worrying disturbs
our peace. Now this is where the enemy really does a number on us. Aside from the obvious, we just talked about our growth has been stagnated, but now because we're not growing and because that situation seems like it's cascading down on us, now we don't have peace in our lives. We don't have joy in our lives. Now where we were content,
in God's presence because we've left this presence because we strayed and we're not growing, now we're in chaos. Now we're in worry mode. Everything is DEFCON 5. Now we feel like, my goodness, again, that worst case scenario. So now you can have peace and worry at the same time. Those two things are diametrically opposed to each other and that's how the enemy wants us to be. He does not want us to be in peace.
Kevin (15:14.82)
He wants us to forget the previous point, the previous scripture that God himself planted us by the rivers of water. So he wants us to focus on the enemy that is, to focus on the drought to come, not where God has planted us. So because of that, now our peace has been disturbed. And think about it, those of us who have children, could you imagine, let's say you had a moment by yourself and the kids were away and you had a chance to...
relax and chill if you're a guy, maybe turn on the game and have your snacks. If you're lady, get a curl up in the couch or sofa and read a good book or get on your phone, whatever it is. And then all of a sudden the kids, the door opens and the kids is running. Your peace is now disturbed. So now you're like, my goodness, so much for that. So much for my watching the game, so much for me reading my book or doing my puzzle, whatever it is that you were going to do to have peace.
In that sense, the enemy does the same thing with us. why he doesn't use children or the kids. He uses predicaments. He uses problems. Just when you're in that place where God has you in peace. Now here he comes cascading in the room, disturbing your peace. So now you're worried. You're worried. Now why are you worried? Because going back to the previous point again,
Your growth is stagnant. The situation has happened. So now you don't have peace in your heart. Now why don't you have peace? Because again, you're doubting. You're wondering if God's going to come through. You're wondering why this happened. You're wondering if you did something to deserve it. And let me say this. I said it earlier in episode. More times than not, it's not a case of a comeuppance. It's a case of a personalized plan that God has to develop your faith, my faith.
So sometimes God purposely disturbs our peace. Well, let me phrase it like this. Sometimes God allows the enemy to purposely disturb our peace. Now, why would God do that? One, to strengthen us. But it could be this. Maybe God allows our peace to be disturbed because we're selling for an imposter peace. Maybe the peace that we think we have is not really peace at all.
Kevin (17:43.588)
Maybe the peace we have is based on something that we think could bring us peace. And God says, well, I got something better. But in order for me to extract you from this imposter peace, I got to create something or send something that disturbs your peace. So now I got to cause some affliction. Now I got to cause an issue. Now I got to cause some disturbance of peace. Because now when your peace is disturbed, you will not come to me for the real thing. I know for me that God has taken things out of my life that I thought
brought me peace, only to realize later on, I was selling for less than God's peace. That God's peace, as the scripture says, transcends all understanding. Could it be the imposter peace we have? It's the peace that we think is good enough. It's an imposter peace that doesn't fit the bill. And or the enemy uses imposter peace so we can settle for that peace as opposed to the peace that God wants us to have. Now with all of that,
We still worry. So now the enemy comes in taking our imposter piece. So now we're worrying because we think the imposter piece is the only piece. And God says, okay, now I can step in because more times than not, and I've talked about this in previous episodes, there's no prayer like a prayer of someone who's worried. There's no worship like a person who's worried.
There's no moment of transparency when you lay down in your process before the Lord until you're worrying. Let's be honest. There are people who go to church that you probably attend. And the only time you probably see them is when they're worried about something. When they're worried about something, when their peace has been disturbed and their growth has been affected, that's when God is the answer. And God says,
because you wouldn't come to me any other time, I have to disturb your peace. And then when you start to worry, that can be the litmus or the impetus rather for you to come and seek my peace. Let me give you a scripture, another famous one, Philippians chapter four, verses six and seven. And it says, don't worry about anything. Instead, pray for about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.
Kevin (20:12.614)
Then you will experience God's peace which can exceed anything we can understand. Look at what says here. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. So look what happens. So word disturbs our peace. So we go to God so he can now restore and refill our peace. Because what happens is God's peace, look at what it says. It's almost similar to the first scripture we referenced.
God's peace guards our minds and hearts. Think about that.
What do you need a guard for unless you are anticipating an attack?
looking with that ass. So it doesn't say again like the previous Jeremiah scripture, where the drought is assured. Jesus is saying here, you're going to still have issues that will make you want to worry, but the peace that he gives us will guard our hearts and minds. So then when you want to worry, his peace will make you so you don't worry. So again, sometimes it's about him replacing that imposter peace with his peace. So now,
When that situation comes up in your life again, now you won't worry because you have the peace as we just read that transcends our understanding. Think about what that's saying. That's saying, Christian, someone else who's not a Christian going through the same exact thing you are, they're worried, you're chilling. They're frantic, you have faith. They're throwing in the towel, you're praising, thanking God because you're saying to yourself,
Kevin (21:51.622)
God, I have your peace and I don't know why, I don't know how, but I just know you're going to get me through this. Your peace covers me. Let me give you an example of this that happened to me. For those who have been following me for a while, you know that this year in February, my father passed away and I knew immediately that I wanted to preach his funeral. I didn't want anyone else to do the eulogy for my father except for me. Now, of course,
This is my father. Of course, I'm sad, but this is the thing guys. All the way up until my father's passing, the days beforehand, I was an absolute wreck. I was crying. My father was in hospice. I was going to the hospice to see him. He got to the point where he was not responding. And my sister and I were taking turns coming to see him. And those last couple of days, we both knew that he was about to transition.
In those last two days, every time I saw him, I was a ball of water. was crying, crying, crying, crying. I was not ready to lose my father. The day he passed away, I have not shed a tear since then. Not only have I not shed a tear, people were marveling at me saying, Kevin, I don't know how you preach your father's funeral. I would be a wreck.
and I would tell them the same thing I'm telling you now. I should be a wreck. But why am I not? Why was I not worried about how I was going to do? Because God gave me his peace, transcendent understanding. With someone else who did not know God would say, there's no way I can preach that sermon. I preached it and I did so powerfully. And people, my family members were telling me,
And I have family members who had never heard me preach before. But when they left the funeral, they all came to me. It's like, Kevin, my goodness, you did such a great job. People, I had people, young people, of course, know, lot of young people don't be thinking about Jesus, coming to me telling me, man, look, you killed it. Now again, I don't take any credit. The peace that he gave.
Kevin (24:18.992)
gave me the ability so my worry was taken away by his peace and he can do the same thing for you. But the peace will be taken away when we worry, when we feel like we have to figure it out, when we feel like we have to do it, when we feel like we have to do it at our strength. You and I are not strong enough to deal with the perils and the issues of this life. So when that doubt and that worry comes to our minds,
We got to go to the prince of who has enough peace to give you and I to make it through and to help us to make it through so when we don't panic, do. And so when people, again, wonder how we did it, we tell them it was God. did it. So that's the second costly thing that it takes away our peace. And the last thing that worry does, or the last cost of worry is that worry.
clouds our vision. So again, I mentioned this early in the episode, that when we're worrying, again, we jump to that worst case scenario and we have help. We jump there because we're anxious, but the enemy is pushing us, is pushing behind us. Like there's a play, it's kind of funny, in football, if you're a football fan and it's a team, the Philadelphia Eagles, they have this play, they call it the
brotherly shove. So the quarterback will be right by the line, they're right by the end zone. And so the quarterback is like right here and he'll try to push his way over all the guys to make it over the end zone. But what happens is they call it the tush push too or the brotherly shove because as the quarterback is here, there's a bunch of linemen people here pushing him over the line. Now, why am I giving that illustration? That's what the enemy does for us. He pushes us
over that line where we're thinking, well, maybe it's going to be okay. Maybe it won't be as bad as it seems. Maybe God's going to come through. know, God's been good. He comes and shoves us over the line that goes from trusting to doubt. So we're already pushing in that direction. Here he comes with the unbrotherly shove and pushes us over that line to now with doubt. But what happens is it clouds our vision because now we're thinking about the worst case scenario as opposed to
Kevin (26:46.554)
best case scenario. And I'm so guilty of this, especially when you've been waiting or you feel like you've done something wrong or you feel like maybe you have fallen short of God's glory. You stray from his presence. You haven't been doing like you should. You haven't been reading. You haven't been faithful. You feel distanced. You feel convicted. And because you did something you shouldn't do. So now the enemy again uses that shove. So now your view of the future.
It's cloudy. Your view of the future is dim. You don't see a light at the end of the tunnel. You see an oncoming train. You're thinking this is it. You know what? It's not going to work out. He not only clouds our vision of what could possibly happen, but he clouds our vision of what God has already done. So now not only are we doubting the outcome of this situation, he clouds our vision.
to what God has done in previous situations. One of the things that the enemy is very good at is making us forget who God is, making us forget what he's done, making us forget what God said he's going to do for us. Which is why, going back to the previous points, we got to get in his presence to be reminded. And I know for me, what helps me in this regard aside from praying and fellowship with other believers, is when I get into the...
But for me, when I get into the word, that's when things come back to my remembrance. That's the way God tells me, Kevin, why are you worrying? Is this the first time you had a situation where you didn't know how you was gonna work it out? Is this the first time you had something bad happen? And in all of those cases, have I ever let you down? Have I ever failed you? Aren't you still here? Transparency. Literally yester-
I was having a really hard time. I'm going through a lot of things where I'm worrying, if I'm being honest. And I was in prayer. And I swear, I heard the Holy Spirit say, if I had no intentions of getting you through this, why are you still here?
Kevin (29:10.416)
Think about that. Because God loves us, why would he go through something just to go through it and it takes us out? First of all, it's not going to help us. And secondly, he's not going to get glory. So the fact, cliche, that you're still here, even in the midst of it, means God is still working on your behalf. He still has a plan.
Now this is what makes it hard and why worry is so easy because a lot of times the reason why we worry is because we don't see what God is doing. When he seems far away, when it seems like I don't understand your plan, I don't understand your timing, I don't agree with your timing, why don't you make this happen now? But we don't always see the big picture because we have short vision and worrying clouds.
our vision. So we don't understand what God is doing because we're worried about what has been done and we forget what God has done. So let me share a scripture with you. This is another one that when I read it, and I'm going to give you a little bit of a setup with this one because this is another one of those scriptures that people use all the time. And I believe it's a case where they do use out of context, but this is still something I believe that fits the worrying about clouding the vision.
of how we see God and how we see our circumstance. So this is Isaiah chapter 43 starting at verse 18. And it says, this is what Yahweh says, forget what happened in the past and do not dwell on events from long ago. I am going to do something new. It is already happening. Don't you recognize it? I will clear away in the desert. I will make rivers on dry land. Wild animals, jackals and ostriches will honor me.
I will provide water in the desert. I will make rivers on the dry land for my chosen people to drink." So think about that scripture. Again, it's one of the ones you've heard before. I'm doing a new thing. And that's one of those scriptures. My church is guilty of this. A lot of churches. I'm telling you right now, this is December 19th. Guarantee you. New Year's Eve, around New Year's Eve, you're going to see this scripture everywhere. New Year, I'm doing a new thing. I'm doing a new thing.
Kevin (31:35.726)
And it's nothing wrong with that on the surface. But now, why am I bringing this up in the context of our vision? Because look at what it says. First of all, it says, forget the things in the past. Now, give you some context, the right context of the scripture. This is Isaiah, God talking to Isaiah, talking to Israel. He's talking to them because they're in Babylon in captivity because of their sin. And because of their sin, because of everything that's going on with them, because they're in this captivity,
They're worried. They're thinking that their lives are over. They're thinking that God has forgotten them. So now the woes and worries are just all over them. But then he says in the scriptures before this, first thing he says is, now let me again, exegesis. When he says forget what happened in the past, don't dwell on the past long ago. Context. He's not just talking about you and I forgetting about the things he's done in the past from this context we're talking about. Look at what he's saying here. If we go up in the scriptures,
He's saying, forget the stuff I did for Israel. Forget about the Red Sea stuff. Forget about the plagues. Forget about that. Now, why is he saying that? He's not saying that to say that it didn't mean anything. He's saying to them that I am going to do something even better. He's saying not that that's insignificant, but if you thought that was good, wait till you see what I'm going to do. But this is the key about
clouding our vision. says, I'm doing a new thing. Have you seen it? Do you see it? Verse 19, it says, don't you recognize it? It's already happening. Think about it. So he says, first of all, all those miracles that you guys remember me doing, that's something different. I'm going to do something new. But think of what he says. What I'm going to do is already happening.
And he says, don't you recognize it? Question mark. None of those people that believe that the Bible is written in a way for us that he means it means exactly what it says. He says them, don't you recognize it? Which means they don't. Sounds a lot like you and me. When we're in a situation, we are like Israel, focusing on those past things. And then we say, well, man, God did all that stuff before, but look at where I'm at right
Kevin (34:03.386)
I don't see that same stuff. don't see those miracles work in my behalf. And that's why he told them to not worry about it. Because they were saying it in the context of, you did all those things, but why you ain't doing it now? You parted the Red Sea for our ancestors. Now we in Babylon and you forgot all about us. You parted the Red Sea. You did these miracles. You did all these things. But now look at us. You forgotten all about us. So God is saying,
You think I forgot you, huh? You think I forgot you because of things I did and you wonder why I'm not going to do them, why I can't do those now? You forgot who I am. So I got to show you. I can show you better not continue. So when he says, forget about those things, he's not saying again to not remember them. He's saying, if you thought that was something, wait till what I do next. And not only that, it's already happening. So now let's bring it home.
Same thing that happens with us. God is already doing things. It's already happening. But because we're so focused on what he did and where we are, we don't see what he's doing. So worrying clouds our vision. So what we have to do is take off the worry glasses and put on the new vision glasses and say, wait a minute, because I know what he's done in the past, I'm expecting him.
to do something new. So it's not about replacing the old, it's about building on the old and building on it even further than new. Because look at what the scripture says. He's going to make a way in the desert, rivers in the desert. He said the animals are going to drink from this water. He says this is going to do something great. Because think about it. What he did with the Israelites, it was all great miracles. But he's saying what I'm going to do here, and if you got to read earlier the scriptures,
I didn't put it here. He says, first of all, I'm going to take care of the Babylonians for what they did to you. Then not only that, I'm going to restore you and do this in the... If you keep reading the scripture, it says, I'm going to do this for my chosen people, Israel, and they're going to worship me. Let me put this in your lap, in my lap. When we worry, we don't see what God is doing. But the good news is...
Kevin (36:31.99)
Even though we don't see what he's doing, it doesn't mean he's not doing anything. And his work is not the contingent on whether we see it or not. Or even if we believe he's working. Could you imagine if God realized we were worrying and he stopped working? You mean to tell me, Kevin, you still don't believe? After all this time, you still worry? You know what? I ain't doing nothing for you. He says, don't you recognize it? I will clear away.
in the desert. I will make rivers the animals and he's as example I'm gonna do something so good even an animal is gonna worship me. None of that happened in the previous things that he did for Israel so he's not just throwing that away again he's building on it and expanding it. So for us when we worry it clouds our vision to the goodness of God the plans of God
the new things she's going to do. So hopefully now when you read this scripture and you're going to hear it on New Year's because it's just one of those scriptures that you do all the time. Look at it now from that perspective, especially the scripture when it says it is already.
Don't you recognize it? I wear clear away. So God works through our worries, despite our worries, even though our worries clouds us to the vision of what he's doing. So that's my episode for this week, the three things that God will have us to do. And now.
It's a point of reiteration. are the three things that we, cost, that the three costs of worry? First of all, worry is stunts our growth so we don't grow like we should because we're worried and we're not trusting him. Then worry disturbs our peace, the peace we should have, we don't have because we're worried and not thinking God's going to do it. We allow the enemy to steal our peace. And then worry clouds our vision. So because we worry, we don't see what God is doing and we don't act as if...
Kevin (38:36.742)
He's actually doing something on our behalf. So what we need to do to counteract the idea of worry or to counteract the process of worry is to see the true cost of it. And as I alluded to in the introduction, make sure you and I aren't privy or forced to pay those hidden fees to come with worry. The Bible says in one of the scriptures that Jesus said that they believe in Matthew, he says,
You know, Matthew, actually Matthew chapter 6, the sermon on the Mount, he says, do not worry. He said, for tomorrow has enough trouble of its own. So what happens when we worry again, that vision part, we're showing God that we don't believe he can sustain us. We don't believe he can do what he said he's going to do. We don't believe he can continue to do what he's already done. So worrying is not something we should do, even though we do it.
But let's try our best to go to God when we worry so we don't end up paying the hidden fees that come.
Thank you so much for watching and listening. pray this episode blessed you. I got another one coming up before the end of the year, so stay tuned. You'll get another episode probably in another week and a half or so. But again, thank you so much for watching and listening. I pray that this bless you. And as always, be sure your light shines brightest for the Lord Jesus Christ beyond the benediction. Until next time.
